The Trust’s primary focus is tackling climate change through its programme areas: connecting people with nature, sustainable farming, stopping deforestation and aligning financial markets with the Paris Agreement.

The Ashden Trust also funds its sister charity Ashden – climate solutions in action.

The Ashden Trust does not generally accept unsolicited applications.

However, we will sometimes issue a ‘Call for Proposals’ for one or more of our programme areas, which invites organisations to submit a proposal on how their organisation can work with us to achieve impact in one of our programme areas.

The Ashden Trust is a grant-making charity set up in 1989 and is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts.

The Trust was founded by Sarah Butler-Sloss, who remains Chair of the Board of Trustees.
